2. Centerless Grinding
3. Cylindrical Grinding
Cylindrical grinding also is available as two different types of procedures. These are

2. Internal outer dimension or OD grinding
This latter form of grinding is a conventional material reduction that focuses on the outer surface of the workpiece. Companies request it when they require precision.
Types
When considering typology, the focus is on the technique or method. The mounting of the workpiece, together with the main direction of its feed results in the following categorization of OD grinding.
* Peripheral-transverse grinding or plunge grinding
* Peripheral-longitudinal grinding or feed grinding
* Centerless grinding: This OD grinding process does not involve the employment of mechanical devices to constrain the workpiece. This is how it derives the term “centerless.” Centerless grinding is also subdivided further comprising two separate types:
* Centerless peripheral-transverse grinding
* Centerless peripheral-longitudinal grinding
The grinding company will select the method and the specific equipment based on several factors. These are the usual variants for such work:
* Application of the part
* Requirements of the client
* Specifications under legislation and/or other agencies
