For many different types of construction, fabrication, and manufacturing, there will be a requirement to run cables, cable bundles, and even tubing to protect those cables.
In both covered and outdoor applications, having the correct cable tie mounts to secure wire cable or other types of cable will be critical. When durability is critical, metal cable tie mounts are usually the go-to option in these types of applications.
Attaching the Cable Mounts
Many of the cable tie mounts used for electrical panels and other types of applications are very lightweight and are generally made of plastic. They may come with a self-adhesive backing, which makes them easy to place in any location.
However, for industrial projects or where cold and heat are a factor, or where the weight of the cable bundle or wires is significant, metal cable tie mounts offer a more secure attachment. This is typically in the form of a bolt or screw that can be used to tighten down the cable tie mount to the surface.
The Options to Consider
Some of the best designs of metal cable tie mounts have the bolt or screw central component of the mount within a recessed area. This allows the bolt head or nut, depending on the type of application, or the screw head to be recessed below the surface of the mount.
This eliminates any protrusion across the surface of the mount that could cause problems in allowing the cable to sit flat on the mount. It is also important to consider that without any protrusions there is no wear or rubbing on the cable that can possibly occur to cause damage to the cable.
Another option to consider is the design of the mount. Some have a saddle mount or saddle support, which provides a noticeable lip or edge along two sides of the mount. These sides hold the cable or bundle in the center of the amount and allow a cable tie to be used to secure the cable to the mount.
